鎌倉⼤仏として名⾼い⾼徳院の本尊。造立が開始されたのは1252(建長四)年。制作には僧浄光が勧進した浄財が当てられたとも伝えられています。その後、大仏殿は台風や大津波のため倒壊し、室町時代の末までには、今の「露坐の大仏」になりました。
